Scar Tissue Therapy

A specialized treatment designed to improve mobility and comfort around healed scar tissue following surgery or injury. Gentle manual therapy is combined with microcurrent technology to address adhesions and restrictions associated with C-sections, mastectomies, joint replacements, orthopedic procedures, and other healed surgical scar.

Restore mobility beneath the surface. Scar Tissue Therapy at Abundant Health is a gentle, focused treatment for the restrictions that can develop under the skin after surgery or injury. It combines hands-on manual therapy with a specialized microcurrent device, used as part of our scar therapy approach, while your therapist works to release the deeper adhesions that can keep tissue from moving freely.

Long after an incision has healed on the surface, the tissue underneath can stay bound up. Those restrictions can limit how you move, and over time they may contribute to discomfort in areas that seem unrelated to the original surgery. This treatment focuses on restoring healthy movement where scar tissue has taken hold.

Scars We Commonly Work With

Every session starts with an evaluation of your history, your goals, and how the area is moving now. From there, your therapist tailors the treatment to you. Scars we commonly work with include:

  • C-section scars
  • Hysterectomy scars
  • Mastectomy and other breast surgery scars
  • Joint replacement scars
  • Orthopedic and sports surgery scars
  • Other healed surgical scars

What to Expect

The work is gentle and gradual. Your therapist uses hands-on techniques to ease adhesions and improve how the tissue glides, and pairs that with microcurrent when it's appropriate for you. Many clients tell us they feel calmer and more relaxed afterward, which we believe may be related to improved scar mobility and the body's natural relaxation response.

Scar tissue tends to remodel over time rather than all at once, so a short series of sessions usually works better than a single visit. Your therapist will talk through what makes sense for your goals.

Before You Book

Because this treatment works directly with surgical scars, we ask that the area be fully healed before your first session, and in some cases we may suggest checking with your doctor first. If you're not sure whether it's the right time, reach out and we're glad to talk it through.
